Fresno State Library borrowing procedures

All FPU library users may check out items from the Fresno State Library Here is the procedure to follow for activating that privilege:

  • Go to the Fresno State Library, and take your FPU ID card with you.
  • At the circulation desk, tell them that you’re from FPU and want to create a patron account at their Library. Their staff will call Hiebert Library (453-2090) to confirm that you’re a current FPU student or employee and get your expiration date.
  • The Fresno State Library staff will then create an account for you. They may use your FPU ID number, or might need to add another barcode label to the back of your card.
  •  That’s it – you’ll be able to check out books at the Fresno State Library according to their policies.

Be aware that you will only have access to physical items in the Fresno State Library collections. This means that you will not have access to their electronic holdings. You can search their collection online, but make sure that you use the limiters on the side panel to only see what you will have access to (print and physical multimedia items).

IMPORTANT: Because the setup process involves calling Hiebert Library, make sure that your initial visit to the Fresno State Library is during our regular hours. If you go when we’re closed, they won’t be able to confirm your status and expiration date. Once you’ve got the account set up, you can go to the Fresno State Library any time it's open.

We will not grant approval to any FPU library user who currently has a block on their account due to overdue or lost books.
