Welcome the 2023-2024 academic year at Fresno Pacific University! We hope that you had a good summer. One of the fun things that the library staff did during the summer was to participate in the first annual staff summer Olympics. We competed with other departments in a variety of fun competitions, and finished 2nd overall! The photo below shows us with our library flag, one of the contests that were part of the Olympics events.
We said goodbye to our cataloging librarian Vern Carter in June, which brings our staff size down to five. With Vern's departure, Emma Sorensen's responsibilities have expanded to include most cataloging tasks. She has a new title -- Collections Management Librarian -- to reflect those changes.
Other librarian duties remain more or less unchanged. Aimee Romley handles instructional services. If you need a librarian to come talk to a class about how to use library resources, she's the person to contact. Aimee also does a great job with the library's social media presence.
David Hasegawa manages our inter-library loan services. He's also the person you will most likely encounter if you visit the library during evening or weekend hours.
Hannah Keeney is in the Mennonite Library & Archives. Contact her if you need resources on Mennonite history or need to access university or denominational archival records.
Kevin Enns-Rempel handles administrative tasks and whatever else needs to be done.
Librarians are ready and willing to help you with your research projects this year. We can point you to the best resources for any purpose, including books and journal articles in the library building, online books and articles, streaming video, and more. We can also help you get resources from other libraries that might not be immediately be available here.
If you need a break from studying, don't forget the library's puzzle table or just find a comfy couch or beanbag chair where you can get a bit of rest.
We hope to see you in the library this semester!
